Got an Apple Gift Card from another country?
Relatives abroad, travel souvenirs and online gifts mean plenty of Americans end up with a Canadian, British or European Apple Gift Card. It will not work on a US Apple Account.

Why it won’t redeem
Apple ties each gift card to the issuing country’s store and currency. When you enter a foreign code, Apple rejects it because your account belongs to a different store.
Should you switch your account country?
Changing your Apple Account country means spending or forfeiting your current balance, cancelling subscriptions and adding a payment method from the new country. For a single gift card it is rarely worth it and can disrupt your apps and family sharing.
Better options
- Give it to a friend or relative with an Apple Account in the issuing country
- Ask the sender whether the purchase can be cancelled, if it was bought recently
- Sell it unredeemed: share the country, currency and value for a quote first
Selling a foreign Apple card
We review Apple Gift Cards from the UK, Canada, the EU, Japan, Australia and more. Each region is quoted separately, and the payout goes to PayPal or crypto once you accept.
